Soulja Boy Announces Run for President in 2028
Soulja Boy said he is exploring public service and outlined four priorities, including economic opportunity and technology, in an Instagram post.
- On Saturday, Rapper Soulja Boy teased a 2028 presidential run via Instagram, captioning the post "SOULJA BOY 2028" and framing the potential campaign as "a new chapter" and "a bigger vision."
- DeAndre Cortez Way identified four focus areas for his platform: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and artificial intelligence, framing the effort as exploring public service.
- Soulja Boy rose to prominence in 2007 when "Crank That" spent seven nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, establishing him as an early success story in internet-driven music promotion.
- The announcement follows his performance at the Crypto Ball, an event held during Donald Trump's January 2025 inauguration festivities, which he previously addressed after receiving public backlash.
- While Saturday Night Live famously parodied a presidential run by the artist in 2019, Soulja Boy has not officially filed campaign paperwork or announced a formal team at this stage.
