Bangs' Valerie Razo places fourth at state powerlifting meet
Photo courtesy of Bangs Athletics Facebook group EDINBURG – Bangs Lady Dragon Valerie Razo placed fourth in the Class 2A 97-pound weight class at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting State meet here Wednesday. Razo lifted a total of 605 pounds – 220 in the squat, 135 in the bench press, and 250 in the deadlift. The state champion in the weight class, Jimena Leija of Sonora, lifted a total of 635 pounds.

EDINBURG, TX — Sonora’s Jimena Leija won her weight class at the Class 1A/2A state powerlifting meet Wednesday to lead the Lady Broncos to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.Leija lifted 255 pounds in the squat, 150 in the bench press and 270 in the deadlift for a total of 635 pounds.
