Somalia: Somali Cabinet Discusses Military Operations Against Al-Shabaab, Oil Exploration Progress

Mogadishu, Somalia -- The Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia held its regular meeting today, focusing on the ongoing military operations to eradicate terrorist groups operating in various regions of the country.

Drones bombed south-east of Bosaso, Puntland, a semi-autonomous region in north-east Somalia on 1 April. According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Africom, the United States Command for Africa, several fighters from the Islamic State group have been shot down. For the past two months, the United States has increased the number of strikes in Somalia.

Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamze Abdi Barre, on Thursday has appointed National Task Force responsible for supporting Somalia’s National Army (SNA) that is engaged an ongoing war with the terrorist groups the likes of Al-Shabab and ISIS.
