As expected, it was without surprise that Senator PS Jérôme Durain took the reins of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region this Friday, September 5, by succeeding Marie-Guite Dufay (PS) who had been in office for 17 years before resigning. A top-hand victory that allowed the majority group in the region to prepare the next regional elections of 2028 to the best.
At the beginning of July, Mr Durain had been nominated as the only candidate of the Socialist and Ecologist Group, the majority in the region. He replaced the resigned socialist president, Marie-Guite Dufay.
Burgundy-Franche-Comté is now presided over by a Saône-et-Loirien. The Chalonian socialist Jérôme Durain was elected this Friday in Dijon. He succeeds the Bisontine Marie-Guite Dufay with the mission to preserve the region in 2028 against the RN.
