An urgent and immediate closure decision resulted from an inspection action following the signaling by the Municipal Police of Amadora, in the district of Lisbon, according to the Social Security Institute.
Of the 50 children who were removed, 39 are under three years old and 11 are of preschool age. There was overcrowding, a lack of human resources, and conditions unsuitable for the care of children.
Social security detected serious deficiencies in the quality of hygiene and safety. The underground establishment housed 50 children.
