Snow coats inland valleys, more expected overnight

A cold storm lowered snow levels to 500 feet, causing wet and slushy roads with heavier snow expected overnight, officials warned drivers to exercise caution.

Snow fell across inland Mendocino County on Wednesday morning, dusting hillsides and briefly reaching valley floors in Ukiah. Light snow was observed at elevations down to about 500 feet, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Eureka.
