Smoke near Putnam sheriff’s office came from nearby fire

OTTAWA — Putnam County fire and EMS crews put out a rubbish fire at Verhoff Alfalfa Mills on Monday night. Crews initiatlly responded to a call from the Putnam County Jail as deputies smelled smoke from the nearby fire.
