Teen Charged with Murder After Boy’s Body Found at Lake Dock
Authorities say the teen and another juvenile were involved in an altercation that left Daryl Lowry dead after being held underwater.
On Monday, South Carolina authorities charged 17-year-old Landen Austin Moore with murder in the death of 13-year-old Daryl Lowry at a boat dock in Modoc.
Investigators reported a physical altercation involving Moore, Lowry, and an unnamed 16-year-old at Strom Thurmond Lake's boat dock on Monday, July 20.
According to the warrant, Moore "murdered Daryl Lowry by holding him underwater until he became deceased." Lowry also suffered knife lacerations during the altercation.
Moore was booked into the McCormick County Detention Center, while the unnamed 16-year-old was transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
The McCormick County Sheriff's Office stated the investigation remains active, and the South Carolina Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case.
