Former SC Trooper Seriously Injured in 2025 Crash Accused of Assaulting Caregiver
Investigators say he kissed and touched an in-home caregiver, and the felony charge carries up to 10 years in prison, officials said.

- The arrest warrant alleges the incident occurred on Nov. 21, 2025, in Lexington County, where LaBounty allegedly "lured" his caregiver to a bedroom under the guise of needing assistance before committing nonconsensual sexual acts.
- LaBounty, a former Master Trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, retired in December 2025 after suffering serious injuries in a Sept. 9, 2025, crash involving five vehicles along Augusta Road.
- Authorities booked LaBounty into the Lexington County Detention Center, and the South Carolina Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case, prompting suspension of community support efforts.
