Six Flags Sells Valleyfair, 6 Other Parks to New Owner

Six Flags will use $331 million from selling seven parks to reduce debt while EPR Properties manages the parks, which had 4.5 million visitors last year.

  • Six Flags Entertainment Corporation said it will divest seven parks, including Valleyfair in Shakopee, to EPR Properties for $331 million.
  • Six Flags said the sale will streamline its business model and focus capital on higher-return properties, using cash proceeds after taxes and transaction expenses to pay down debt, Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly said.
  • The seven parks hosted about 4.5 million visitors last year and generated about $260 million in net revenue with $45 million in adjusted EBITDA, while EPR Properties will partner with Enchanted Parks and La Ronde Operations, Inc. to manage them.
  • The parks will maintain regular operating schedules during the transition, EPR and Six Flags said, with Valleyfair and others honoring all 2026 season passes and memberships through the year.
  • Six Flags only recently purchased Valleyfair on July 1, 2024, and the transaction is expected to close by the end of Q1 or start of Q2 2026 with opening weekend May 9.
