On January 8, 2026, at approximately 9:00 AM, Chen Yunfei, a well-known Chinese human rights defender, was assaulted and verbally abused by a man in his residential community on Zhujiang Road, Xipu Town, Pidu District, Chengdu. He suffered a fractured brow bone that required four stitches. After reporting the incident to the police, the Zhujiang Road Police Station failed to provide any investigation results or response.
