Even a short holiday trip is unaffordable for many people in Germany.
A week's beach holiday or a trip to the mountains: According to the Federal Statistical Office, one fifth of the people in Germany cannot afford it. In other EU countries, even more people are affected.
A week to the beach or to the mountains - for many holiday is the most beautiful time of the year. But a trip remains an unfulfilled wish for millions of people in the Federal Republic.
In Germany, about 20 per cent of the population say that they do not have enough money for a longer trip. For certain groups, this proportion is much higher. However, in European comparison, the Federal Republic of Germany is still relatively good.
Summer, Sun, Sparzwang: 21 percent of the people in Germany do not have enough money for a holiday trip. In European comparison, the Germans are doing well on an above-average basis.
One week's holiday in Germany is too expensive for a fifth of the people. According to the Federal Statistical Office, single people and single parents are particularly affected.
