MI Woman Escapes Police Custody By Squeezing Through Squad Car Window: Police
Kendra Aney, 38, escaped handcuffed from a patrol vehicle window and was recaptured after allegedly breaking into a home while on the run, authorities said.
- Kendra Aney, 38, was taken into custody Tuesday morning in an abandoned home on Rotterdam Avenue, ending a search that began when she fled police custody over the weekend.
- During a traffic stop near Norton Avenue on Saturday, officers handcuffed Aney after discovering she had an outstanding parole warrant; she squeezed through a partially open patrol car window and fled.
- Investigators believe Aney committed a breaking and entering offense in the 3300 block of Peck Street about an hour after escaping, with authorities pursuing additional larceny charges against her.
- Aney is currently held at the Muskegon County Jail for violating parole and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday for the new charges, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records.
- Records show Aney had been absconding from parole since January 12, 2026, and was previously sentenced to seven years in prison in 2017 for delivering or manufacturing controlled substances in Michigan.
