Shipwreck plunder, art among nearly 38,000 items seized in police crackdown

Operation Pandora IX aims to disrupt the trade in cultural artifacts that’s grown larger and more professional since the coronavirus pandemic, Interpol said.

In the fight against the international robbery of cultural goods, investigators and customs agents, according to Europol, confiscated around 38,000 precious objects and arrested 80 suspects. Among the confiscated objects of the simultaneous action were works of art, coins, musical instruments, pictures and archaeological finds.
