On June 13, 1939, the ship Sinaia arrived in Mexico with more than 1,600 Spanish refugees, fleeing the Civil War (1936-1939). This event marked the beginning of the massive arrival of Spanish exile to the country. During the journey of Sinaia by the transatlantic, a girl was born who was named Susana Sinaia Caparrós, in honor of the ship.
