A shelter in place was issued for parts of northwest suburban Lake in the Hills for nearly an hour Thursday morning due to “police activity.” Just before 10 a.m. the Lake in the Hills Police Department told residents to avoid Washington Street and Clayton Marsh Drive between McKinley and Lincoln streets “until further notice.” It urged anyone in that area to shelter in place.
