Shella Sylla, Founder and Director of The SisterGolf Foundation Encourages More Women and Youth to Explore Golf as Access to the Sport Continues to Expand Nationwide
The nonprofit offers scholarships, clinics and mentorship to reduce barriers and help new players build confidence and community.
The SisterGolf Foundation is expanding golf opportunities for women and underrepresented youth in Hoover, Alabama, through affordable programs and community initiatives designed to introduce new players to the sport.
Historically, high costs for equipment, lessons, and course access kept many families from reaching the game; the foundation now lowers these financial barriers through scholarships and reduced program fees.
Through clinics, workshops, and networking events, the organization empowers participants to develop confidence and professional skills while building relationships and promoting a more inclusive future for the game.
Director Shella Sylla emphasized the mission extends beyond the course, stating, "We believe access is only the beginning," and underscoring community support's role in long-term personal growth.
As nationwide interest in youth golf grows, the foundation remains committed to expanding access and ensuring more women and young people feel welcomed and supported in the sport.
