Shaunie Henderson Says ‘Basketball Wives’ Will Not Return
Shaunie Henderson ends the 16-year Basketball Wives franchise to pursue new projects focused on women's media and business opportunities, VH1 and BET supported the series.
- Shaunie Henderson, the franchise creator, posted on Instagram that Basketball Wives will not be returning and said, `You heard it here first` to share the news before rumors spread.
- Henderson said `This isn't an ending, it's a transition` and clarified the choice was driven by timing, not controversy or cancellation rumors.
- Since its 2010 premiere the series ran 12 seasons over roughly 15 years, spawning Basketball Wives LA and boosting cast members' brands, Henderson said the franchise amplified women's voices.
- She said new projects are already in development and she isn’t stepping away from television, while she and husband Pastor Keion Henderson tour on the Not Your Typical tour; shortly after, alum Draya Michele suggested a farewell special.
