Kerala Elections: Shashi Tharoor’s Gunman, Driver Attacked in Malappuram; One Held

- Tharoor was traveling through the narrow Chelithode bridge area to campaign for Congress leader A.P. Anilkumar when the confrontation occurred, according to police reports of the incident's origins.
- Following a complaint by gunman Ratheesh K P, Wandoor Police registered a case and arrested one suspect, identified as Umar from Kalikavu, while seizing two vehicles linked to the obstruction.
- Confirming he was physically unharmed, Tharoor stated his "ongoing programme remains unaffected" and thanked well-wishers for messages regarding the "untoward incident" on X.
- The incident comes as political activity intensifies across Kerala, with the state set to vote in a single phase on April 9 for all 140 Assembly seats.
