Motorists Hit with Major Fuel Price Hike as Diesel Jumps 19c

- The Government plans to restore Excise duty on a phased basis From September, adding 9 cents to petrol and 10 cents to Diesel, after temporary reductions end by the end of Aug.
- Simple vehicle maintenance including correct tyre pressure and air filter replacement can improve Fuel efficiency, while AA Ireland warned motorists should plan for further increases through the autumn if wholesale prices remain elevated.
