Ujjain mosque demolition resumes day after clashes over road-widening plan
A settlement has cleared the way for voluntary removal of part of Ujjain's Shahi Masjid for road widening. The agreement eased a tense stand-off and is now binding on both sides after the High Court order.
The Sarafa Merchant Association arranged for refreshments. The area where the violence occurred on Monday is a major commercial area of the city. People gather in Patni Bazaar, Gopal Mandir, Chhatri Chowk, and Chhota Sarafa for shopping, both on normal days and during festivals.
