Pakistan Upstage Australia for 2-1 ODI Series Win

Shaheen Afridi took 3-30 and Shadab Khan added an unbeaten 29 as Pakistan sealed the three-match series 2-1.

  • On Thursday, Pakistan defeated Australia by four wickets at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to claim the three-match ODI series 2-1. Spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan led the decisive victory after restricting the tourists to 157.
  • After winning the toss, Australia managed only 157 runs before being bowled out in 42 overs. Shaheen took 3-30, while stand-in captain Josh Inglis top-scored with 65 before a late-innings batting collapse.
  • During the chase, Shadab and Abdul Samad stitched an unbeaten 49-run partnership to secure the target, despite losing Babar Azam for 40 early in the innings. Pakistan reached the target in 41.5 overs.
  • Praising a "complete team effort," Shaheen noted the bowlers executed their plans well on a turning pitch. Inglis said the series provided "a great learning experience" for his young, inexperienced Australian squad.
  • This victory marks Pakistan's third successive 2-1 ODI series win over Australia. Australia now moves on to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a Twenty20 series.
