Rahul Gandhi Needs to Be Ready for Crushing Defeat in 2029: Amit Shah
Shah said the SIR began after 2024 and cited recent state and local poll results as evidence the BJP and NDA remain dominant.
- On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah predicted the NDA will secure a massive majority in 2029, warning Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders to brace for crushing defeat as the party faces its fourth consecutive loss.
- Recently, the Congress party failed to win a single seat in by-elections held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, with the BJP winning Rejinagar by over 75,000 votes from the Trinamool.
- The Bharatiya Janata Party captured 90% of municipal corporations and 66% of councils in Rajasthan, while winning 38 out of 44 seats in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation with a 10% vote share increase.
- Dismissing claims that an 'SIR' drives BJP popularity, Shah asked, "I also wish to ask Rahul ji: is this the result of an 'SIR'?" while noting the SIR only came into effect after 2024.
- Shah highlighted that the Congress party has faced defeat for three, four, or even five decades in Bengal, Tripura, and Gujarat, failing to win a single election in 41 years in one major state.
