The conservative Protestant party SGP has again voted down a proposal to formally recognize women’s eligibility for political and administrative roles, maintaining a decades-long stance that continues to limit women's participation despite previous legal rulings and internal activism.
SGP Remains Against Women in Political Positions
At the SGP, women are still not welcome in political or administrative positions. A motion by the Vlissingen branch to amend the basic regulations to make this possible was defeated by a wide margin at the party day in Nieuwegein on Saturday. 53 members voted in favour of the motion, 299 members voted against.
