As a trial, the ban on sex toys has been lifted in many women's prisons. Research shows that this could help limit the widespread sexual misconduct in women's prisons. The Dutch Correctional Institutions Agency (DJI) launched a trial in May in which female detainees in a number of women's prisons can purchase sex toys. A DJI spokesperson confirmed this to NU.nl following reporting by NOS.
