More than 99% of US dogs have a behavior problem, researcher finds
- On Sunday, Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 13500 block of Elm Forrest in far west Bexar County following a report of approximately 20 dogs roaming freely, resulting in three attacks.
- The incident was triggered by the presence of numerous unrestrained dogs, some of whom were reportedly unvaccinated for rabies, leading to multiple attacks on individuals.
- A Bexar County sheriff's deputy, after exiting his vehicle, was bitten multiple times on the leg and calf, prompting him to discharge his weapon and strike one of the dogs, while a friend of the owner and a woman nearby also sustained injuries.
- The male dog owner received 17 violations, including for dangerous dog attack and dogs running free of restraint, and told deputies the dogs were not vaccinated for rabies.
- Nine dogs were surrendered to Animal Care Services for quarantine, the two dog owners were detained and cited, the injured deputy and friend were hospitalized with unknown conditions, and the Attorney's Office is involved as charges are expected to be filed.
