Snack Mixes Sold in Stores, Including Target, Recalled over Salmonella Worries
The company said five snack and trail mix products were pulled as a precaution after no illnesses were reported.
John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. is recalling several snack and trail mixes sold at Target and QVC due to potential salmonella contamination in dry milk powder ingredients used in seasoning.
California Dairies, Inc. previously recalled dry milk powder over possible salmonella concerns, then supplied the ingredient to other manufacturers for use in snack products across multiple brands.
Impacted items include Fisher Tex Mex Trail Mix , Southern Style Nuts Gourmet Hunter Mix , Squirrel Brand Travellers Mix , and Good & Gather Mexican Street Corn Trail Mix .
Sanfilippo has received no illness reports, and the seasoning initially tested negative for salmonella. As a precaution, consumers should return products to stores for refunds and not consume them.
Other manufacturers are issuing recalls following the contamination, including Utz, and Walmart and Aldi frozen pizzas face separate salmonella recalls linked to the same dry milk powder issue.
