Seven & i Holdings, the owner of 7-Eleven, has been unable to reach an agreement on a potential investment in Żabka Group, Poland’s largest operator of convenience stores. The Japanese retailer has so far been unable to gain a foothold in Europe.
Shares of the Żabka Group fell sharply at the opening bell on Monday. This was a direct reaction to the news that Japanese company Seven & i Holdings, owner of the 7-Eleven chain, had withdrawn from its planned investment in the Polish company.
