Serve Robotics Partners with Grubhub After Uber Exit

The deal gives Serve a new marketplace as it loses its Uber Eats alliance and expands in seven major U.S. markets, the company said.

  • On Monday, August 17, 2026, Serve Robotics announced a partnership with Grubhub to deploy sidewalk robots in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Alexandria, Virginia, days after declining to renew its Uber Technologies Inc. delivery contract.
  • Uber Technologies Inc. sold its stake in Serve Robotics during the second quarter, citing declining order volumes and "differing views" on robot deployment; the current agreement expires in early 2027.
  • Alongside the Grubhub deal, Serve expanded its DoorDash collaboration to Washington and San Jose, reaching roughly eight million people across eight major markets while testing "micro depots" in Miami to streamline dispatch and maintenance.
  • Serve CEO Ali Kashani stated the firm believes new partnerships will "more than replace" the lost Uber volume. The company also introduced Beacon, a device connecting restaurants directly to robots for order pickups.
  • Diversifying its revenue, Serve is deploying its next-generation Moxi 2.0 hospital robots to healthcare systems. The company aims to function as autonomous delivery infrastructure, reducing reliance on any single delivery platform.
