Serpentine Pavilion 2026 designers unveiled: Mexican duo scoop the coveted commission

LANZA atelier’s 2026 Pavilion, inspired by English serpentine walls, will feature clay brick and a translucent roof, marking the Serpentine Pavilion’s 25th edition and showcasing emerging talent.

  • This year LANZA atelier, Mexico City-based studio, will design the 2026 Serpentine Pavilion, titled a serpentine, which will be unveiled to the public as part of the Pavilion programme.
  • As the commission marks an anniversary, the Serpentine Pavilion continues its milestone programming and deepens its focus as a showcase and catalyst for emerging architects.
  • Materially, the project uses simple clay brick foregrounding vernacular craft and local materials, with a form inspired by the serpentine or crickle-crankle wall echoing the Serpentine lake, while a translucent roof and brick columns allow light and air to permeate.
  • The Serpentine will program lectures, film screenings and performances through the summer and until October as part of the Serpentine live and events programme.
  • Guided by Sou Fujimoto, the studio said it aims to balance intervention and ecology via a second wall working with the tree canopy.
