STONINGTON, CONNECTICUT, JUL 23 – Shawn Twomey, 52, died when his motorcycle hit a tractor-trailer on I-95 south, closing the highway for hours, state police said.
- On Wednesday at 11:37 a.m., Interstate 95 south in Stonington closed between exits 90 and 92 for hours, after a fatal motorcycle crash.
- According to state police, Shawn Twomey, 52, of New Haven, was killed when his motorcycle struck the back of a tractor-trailer truck, and it's unclear how many others sustained injuries.
- At the crash scene, pieces of a blue motorcycle were scattered across the highway and an uncovered body was visible, while traffic was diverted off Exit 91.
- Officials reported serious injuries, and 'There's literally a dead body in the road,' said Lisa Rolfe of Stonington.
- Investigators noted that police said a bank robbery earlier in Pawcatuck involved a suspect fleeing on a motorcycle, Webster Police chief confirmed coordination with Rhode Island and Connecticut agencies, and a bank robbery was reported in Webster, Massachusetts, last week.
