Sentencing set for former B.C. massage therapist with ties to Surrey, Penticton

Leonard Krekic was convicted on 12 of 13 sexual-assault counts, and prosecutors say the maximum sentence is 10 years in prison.

  • Former massage therapist Leonard Krekic, convicted on 12 of 13 counts of sexual assault in May, faces sentencing on Oct. 15-16, 2026, in the Supreme Court in New Westminster.
  • Surrey RCMP investigations followed allegations of sexual assaults occurring at or near Surrey between Dec. 30, 1994, and 2017, with criminal charges involving eight patients who sought treatment from Krekic.
  • In Dec. 2022, the College of Massage Therapists banned Krekic from the profession for 25 years and ordered him to pay more than $105,000 for sexual misconduct allegations involving six female patients between 2012 and 2019.
  • Justice Lance Bernard will preside over the sentencing hearing in New Westminster, as the Prosecution Service confirmed the schedule for the convicted therapist with ties to White Rock, Surrey, and Penticton.
  • While the maximum sentence for sexual assault is 10 years in prison, strict publication bans remain in effect regarding anything that could identify the victims or witnesses involved in the case.
