Senior Assaulted, Robbed in Broad Daylight in Vernon
Police are circulating photos of a suspect after an 82-year-old man was punched and forced to withdraw cash, authorities said.
On Tuesday, May 5, an 82-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in downtown Vernon after a man approached his truck, alleging the senior had hit him with his vehicle.
The suspect tapped on the senior's window, demanding money as compensation for an alleged collision, then punched the victim several times in the head when he refused payment.
Forced to withdraw funds from an ATM, the victim handed over $50 to the assailant and later received treatment at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for bruises and a black eye.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are circulating photos of the suspect, described as middle-aged, skinny, with greyish hair, sunglasses, and a backpack featuring rainbow colors.
Const. Colton requests that anyone who can identify the individual in the photos contact him at 250-545-7171, referencing file #2026-7183 to assist the investigation.
