Senate blocks federal funding bills as deadline to avert shutdown looms

Senate Democrats and some Republicans rejected the bill to demand ICE reforms after two fatal shootings in Minneapolis, blocking 96% of government funding and risking a partial shutdown.

The funding package failed 55 to 45, with a handful of Republicans joining Democrats to block the bills.
