Outlining concerns, SEC’s Sankey worries Senate bill could produce more lawsuits, not fewer
Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey is concerned that a Senate bill aimed at fixing college sports could increase lawsuits rather than reduce them.
Sankey highlighted concerns about "unintended legal exposure" from a bill section allowing athletes to file civil lawsuits, which many Democrats support.
Sankey stated, "As drafted, these provisions are likely to increase litigation rather than reduce it."
Although the SEC and Big Ten have not fully supported the bill, they believe targeted revisions could bring needed stability and accountability in college athletics.
