Florida Firefighters Build Bond with 3-Year-Old Girl After Truck Accident
The crew kept visiting Lila Pagan through birthdays and holidays as her mother said the firefighters became part of the family.
Three years after Seminole County Fire rescuers saved a critically injured 3-year-old girl, Lila Pagan, run over by a truck, the crew and her family have built a lasting bond.
Lieutenant Marcus Gombs of Seminole County Fire recalled arriving at a chaotic scene where he prayed with Pamela Pagan while Lila remained intubated and in a coma following the accident.
Firefighters continued to support the family by attending birthdays, Christmas celebrations, and other milestones, even giving Lila the nickname "Baby" whenever they visit.
Cross Ferrentino of Seminole County Fire said Lila's recovery has stayed with him, noting the family has become like his own and he plans to attend her wedding in about 30 years.
Pamela Pagan emphasized the importance of the crew's ongoing presence in her daughter's life, saying, "Sometimes we take for granted the amazing firefighters and paramedics we have.
