IIHF - Swiss Dominate Austria to Move On

After the 0:6 in the quarter-final against Switzerland, Austria's cracks Bernd Wolf and Lukas Haudum caused a stir with their criticism of their own association – which also joined Captain Thomas Raffl in terms of content.

Eidgenossen already led 5:0 after 25 minutes and finally won 6:0. Austria finishes the tournament in eighth place, the best ranking in 31 years

For Austria's ice hockey team, the finals in the World Cup quarterfinals were finals, while the Swiss had some easy matches with the apparently overstretched opponent. Already after the first third, the vice world champion was clearly on the winner's road.

After a 0:6 against the Eidgenossen in the quarter-finals, Team Austria was unfortunately the final stop. Too strong, too compelling the Swiss appeared. Goalie Genoni had only 13 shots to ward off.
