Semi-trailer crashes into a van on a Georgia highway, killing 7

On Monday in Jackson County, Georgia, a semi-trailer struck a van on Interstate 85, causing it to burst into flames and killing seven people at the scene.
Officials said the semi-trailer was following too close to the Dodge van about 62 miles northeast of Atlanta, triggering a `chain reaction` involving four other vehicles.
Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelter confirmed its transport van was involved, the driver and several animals were injured, 32 cats found, five missing, and Furkids said, `We are devastated for the families affected, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with them.`
The crash is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, and the identities of the people killed have not been released.
The transport van was carrying 37 cats to a partner shelter in Vermont and was struck about 90 minutes after leaving Atlanta.
