Self-described 'body and energy therapist' sexually assaulted a client
Gerald Peck exploited his client's trust by falsely claiming sexual acts were therapeutic, leading to an 11-year sentence at Lewes Crown Court.
- On Thursday , Gerald Peck, 77-year-old private body and energy therapist, was sentenced to 11 years in prison at Lewes Crown Court after a victim reported multiple assaults during therapy.
- Peck advertised himself as a private body and energy therapist claiming relief from depression and pain, telling the victim skin-to-skin contact and penetration were necessary therapeutic parts.
- On February 4, 2024, the jury at Lewes Crown Court convicted Peck of two counts of assault by penetration and three counts of sexual assault after prosecutors said he deceived the victim.
- The court also imposed a restraining order and ordered compensation of £9,730 payable within ten months, while Detective Constable Jazz Gannon praised the victim's courage and urged better safeguarding.
- The Centre for Women's Justice helped reopen the case after the victim said it was closed three months after the 2021 report, and solicitor Nogah Ofer urged therapy regulation to protect the vulnerable.
