- Rovio Entertainment Ltd.'s Angry Birds defined mobile gaming with more than 5 billion downloads since 2009, while EA Sports' FIFA series sold more than 325 million units worldwide through 2023.
- Digital preservation director Andrew Borman said Silent Hill redefined horror through psychological directions that engaged players' emotions, while Dragon Quest established the template for modern Japanese role-playing games.
- The four inductees surpassed eight finalists including Frogger, Galaga, League of Legends, Mega Man, PaRappa the Rapper, RuneScape, and Elder Scrolls 5, with these titles expanding into films and merchandise.
