See some of Alabama’s most fascinating ruins at the site of long-ago mining community

The streets of West Blocton are pretty quiet these days, with many of the old storefronts vacant, while still others have given in to the fatigue of more than 120 years and collapsed into rubble. About 1,200 people still live in what was once a bustling coal-mining town in Bibb County.
