- On Tuesday, the New York Islanders unveiled eight finalists for their fan-designed third jersey, selected from 80,490 submissions in the first fan-driven design contest in National Hockey League history.
- Kelly Cheeseman, president of business operations for the Islanders and UBS Arena, explained the team expanded the finalist pool to eight due to overwhelming participation. "We have had to push our timeline," Cheeseman said.
- Finalists feature four design themes: Lighthouse, Fisherman, "NY," and "ISLANDERS" or "ISLES," selected by a committee of players and hockey operations members to showcase varied looks while retaining the team's orange, blue, and white colors.
- Voting begins Wednesday at 12 p.m. through Friday at 5 p.m. at newyorkislanders.com/fanvote, with subsequent rounds narrowing the field from Saturday through August 20 when the winner will be decided.
- Designed for the 2027-28 season, the winning jersey will debut after a mandatory two-year league approval and production cycle. The creator receives a team-signed jersey and tickets to the uniform's on-ice debut.
