Johannes Lamparter won Olympic silver in the individual large hill event of Nordic combined, just as he did on the normal hill. The 24-year-old Tyrolean, who started the 10km cross-country race in second place after the ski jumping, was beaten by Norway's Jens Luraas Oftebro by 5.9 seconds on Tuesday after an attack on the final climb. Oftebro is thus a double Olympic champion in Italy. Bronze went to Finland's Ilkka Herola (+14.8).

The Tyrolean was not allowed to share his joy over the silver medal in the finish area with his family and fellow fans: "This really hurts.

Johannes Lamparter was allowed to celebrate his second Olympic medal on Tuesday. As in the first competition of the Nordic combined riders, the Tyrolean only had to give himself to the Norwegian Jens Luraas Oftebro.

Johannes Lamparter also finished second in the competition at the Großschanze and secured Austria the 16th medal at this Winter Olympics.
