State Investigators Reviewing Female Inmate Death at Columbia County Jail

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 5:07 p.m., detention deputies were alerted by inmates that a white female inmate was unresponsive in her bed within the general population housing unit. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures, which continued until County Fire and EMS arrived and took over care. The inmate was pronounced deceased at 5:24 p.m. by EMS personnel.
