Italy's Val Gardena is a hiking paradise. Everyone wants to take an Instagram photo, but visitors are leaving behind piles of trash on the paths that crisscross the pastures around the iconic Seceda mountain. Angry farmers have even erected a turnstile on one of the busiest roads. For now, the pass is free, but they are ready to charge 5 euros per person. Now the farmers want to negotiate with the authorities on how to protect the entire area.
