SEC protocols keep RJ Luis Jr. off LSU roster amid eligibility concerns
- LSU's men's basketball roster expanded to 10 players ahead of the Nov. 3 opener against LSU New Orleans, coach Will Wade confirmed Tuesday, though the Tigers were picked to finish 14th in the Southeastern Conference preseason poll.
- Coach Wade remains undeterred by his program's "unconventional approach," though multiple international and fifth-year players face ongoing eligibility concerns heading into the season.
- Star transfer RJ Luis remains off the roster despite winning a preliminary injunction in a Louisiana court, Wade noted Tuesday, while players like Donovan Dent have secured clearance to compete.
- Wade deployed seven players in a 63-60 exhibition win over McNeese last week, integrating recruits like Croatian prospect Michael Ruzic into a roster featuring multiple walk-ons.
- The NCAA continues to challenge eligibility rulings that allowed fifth-year players to compete, creating uncertainty for programs relying on court-ordered clearances as the season approaches.
