- Reporters recorded a private exchange where Pope said `Mitch, if those MFers try to fine me, screw them`, after his on-record remark about referees. Pope said, `Well, we're not allowed to talk about the referees`.
- The loss left the Wildcats with their third defeat in a row after winning eight of nine games, and with just over two weeks until the SEC Tournament, Kentucky sits tied for sixth with an 8-6 conference record.
- The result also provided Auburn with a fifth Quad 1 victory and helped stave off NCAA bubble talk, according to BracketMatrix.
