Diamondbacks Can't Finish Big Rally, Walked Off by Mariners in 10th
Randy Arozarena capped Seattle’s comeback after J.P. Crawford hit two homers and Arizona erased two deficits before losing in extras.
On Friday, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-6 in 10 innings at T-Mobile Park, with Randy Arozarena delivering a walk-off double off reliever Juan Morillo to end the game.
The Diamondbacks rallied from a 5-1 deficit, scoring four runs in the sixth inning off Mariners right-hander George Kirby and reliever Matt Brash to tie the game before Arizona failed to score in the 10th.
Nolan Arenado exited in the ninth after being hit by a 97.8 mph fastball on his left arm, while teammate Geraldo Perdomo hit a solo home run and starter Zac Gallen allowed five runs over five innings.
Manager Torey Lovullo noted that first baseman Pavin Smith missed Thursday's game due to illness as the Diamondbacks look to bounce back in Saturday's second game of the series.
The series continues Sunday at Seattle as Diamondbacks RHP Ryne Nelson faces Mariners RHP Bryan Woo, while injured pitcher Corbin Burnes continues his rehab assignment targeting a July return.
