Jet Skier Found Alive Miles Offshore After Night Missing In Ocean Off Long Beach
Lifeguards rescued a woman in stable condition, and crews found two empty jet skis as the search for the missing man continued.
On Monday, Aug. 17, the U.S. Coast Guard led a search for 53-year-old Paul Anthony Carbullido Jr., who went missing after falling from a personal watercraft off the Long Beach coast Sunday night.
Emergency crews began the search about 10 p.m. Sunday after receiving 911 calls regarding two jet skiers missing from a larger group near Alamitos Bay Landing, according to Long Beach Fire Department Captain Jack Crabtree.
Lifeguards rescued a woman in her 40s from the breakwater after a boater heard her screams, while authorities recovered two empty jet skis at 1:15 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. Monday.
The rescued woman remains in stable condition at a local hospital, while the search for Carbullido continues using vessels and helicopters near the breakwall.
Multiple agencies, including the Long Beach Fire Department and local police, persist in search efforts Monday morning, though officials reported no signs of the missing man as of early Monday.
