BANFF NATIONAL PARK AND KANANASKIS COUNTRY AREA, ALBERTA, JUL 25 – Search and rescue teams deployed helicopters and ground crews after Chad Singer failed to return from a hike near Aurora Creek trail, officials said.
- On Wednesday evening, parks and police launched the search in Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country for 42-year-old Chad Singer.
- Cpl. Gina Slaney said `At approximately 2 p.m. on the 23rd he separated from his friend`, noting he did not return to the trailhead and was reported missing.
- Ground teams, a helicopter visual thermal search and a canine unit are managing the operation, Gina Slaney said, while RCMP dogs supplement the effort and aerial searches continued through Thursday.
- Hikers in the region have been urged to stay vigilant; Gina Slaney said, `'If you are hiking in this area, please be aware and keep your eyes open for him,'` to aid the search.
- With terrain linking Aurora Creek to Marvel Lake and between Sunshine Mountain, Banff and Mount Shark, Police say the trail network extends, expanding the search zone.
